Purpose of Article. To identify the peculiarities of the street sound installation, to determine approaches to its classification, to characterize the various types of the investigated form on examples of specific art objects. Methodology. The methodology of the study included an appeal to general scientific methods (analysis, synthesis, analogy), comparative and typological approaches on the basis of an interdisciplinary (culturological and art criticism) approach. Scientific novelty. The scientific novelty of the work is to identify the place of sound installation in the space of street art and the genre system of sound art, to determine approaches to the classification of street sound installations. Conclusions. Sound street installation demonstrates vividly one of the leading trends in contemporary art - the desire for interactivity. Sound installation demonstrates the example of modern art, which can be expressed by the conditional slogan: «from the impact on the viewer - to interact with him», which provides for changes not only in the spiritual but also in the sensually- corporal sphere of man. Street sound installations can be classified according to several criteria: on the basis of interactivity, type of functioning, location, and mounting technology. As a constructive phenomenon of culture, the street sound installation has the own philosophy, rules, etiquette, traditions of being. As an artistic phenomenon, the sound installation has artistic forms of embodiment, aesthetic value, a system of expressive means, deep imagery, iconic code and symbols, artistic context and subtext, a genre system, professional tools. As a spectacular form, a sound installation demonstrates a strong focus on the viewer, the communicative nature of creation and existence. All this makes it possible to determine the street sound installation by the artistic- spectacular form of modern culture.
