SCENOGRAPHIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF DESIGNER A. H. PETRYTSKYI IN BALLET THEATER

The purpose of the article to analyze the scenographic heritage of stage designer А. H. Petritskyi in a ballet theatre and to expose the question of strengthening of the role of authorial visual arts directing of scenographer in the context of ballet master’s intent. The methodology consists of historical-cultural and art history methods that give an opportunity to expose the essential aspects of scenographic activity of a prominent Ukrainian costume designer in choreographic performance. The scientific novelty of the work comprises of rethinking and returning from the oblivion of the creative work of a graphic designer-reformer of Ukrainian scenography, research of the influence of design forms and facilities of Petritskyi’s scenographic creativity on the creation of choreographically plastic images. Conclusions. Analysis of Petritskyi’s scenographic heritage in ballet performances allowed us to assert that stage designer was contributing the rise of decorative design up to the important dramaturgic-expressive factor of the choreographic work that played a big role in the whole aesthetic, emotional atmosphere of the ballet performance, its quality. Petritskyi's activity has outlined the vector of the development of Ukrainian scenography for many years ahead. His theatrical works tell us about designer's mission in the process of the reformation of Ukrainian ballet theater and are a historical memorial, document about the great designer’s culture of visual arts.
