Purpose: to study the level of physical, functional fitness, psychophysiological capabilities of young basketball referees to determine the
features of preparation before the game season. Participants: 15 basketball referees, category C
(age 18-20 years), Kharkov, Nikolaev, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kiev, one year of refereeing. The studies
were conducted in May 2019. Methods. Theoretical analysis and generalization of literary sources.
Methods of mathematical statistics. Physical fitness testing (shuttle running, push up for 30 s,
jumping on a skipping-rope for 1 min., cross 3000 m, raising the torso to a sitting position, pulling
up, Metronome test) and testing functionality (Ruffe test, Gencha test). To determine the
psychophysiological state of the athletes of the experiment, psychophysiological indicators were
recorded using the “Psychodiagnostics” computer program (the speed of a simple and complex
reaction in various testing modes) Results: The factor structure of the judges' comprehensive preparedness was established, five factors were identified: functional capabilities, coordination capabilities, speed-strength capabilities, simple reaction, complex reaction. It was shown that
judges in this category have a high level of physical and functional preparedness, but they need the
active development of professional mental qualities, namely, the accuracy of perception of short
time intervals and the organization of attention, for the ability to quickly perceive and evaluate
rapidly changing information. Conclusions: It was established, that the refereeing activity in
basketball is characterized by a diverse set and specific nature of work actions and operations,
which requires a comprehensive integrated training of the referees. It is recommended, that the
active use of the means of all types of preparedness of the young referee, corresponding to the
specific requirements of the refereeing before the playing period.
