The relevance of the topic due to the fact that modern ecological situation in Ukraine is characterized by mostly negative indicators of the state of the environment and its components, strengthening of anthropogenic impact on the environment, intensification of use of natural resources, increasing number of industrial and other facilities and enterprises, the functioning of which represents a real threat to the life and health of the population and environmental safety of territories. The existing institutions of environmental management designed to ensure the right of everyone to a favourable environment, not always cope with their tasks. Thus, the article studies the essence of environmental audit, studied his subject area, developed the main stages of the environmental audit at the enterprise. Using the audit enables you to make a real assessment of compliance with the requirements in the field of environmental protection, nature use and ecological safety; to identify weak points in the evaluation region and to develop corrective actions; to prevent harm to the environment; to increase the investment attractiveness of the nature users and much more. Environmental audit is one of the factors of increasing the efficiency and pace of development of the regional economy, preserves the environment. This is due to: stimulation of environmental activities of enterprises, increasing the output of finished products, improving the competitiveness of domestic products, increasing consumer demand for products, the greening of technological process and introduction of energy-saving and low-waste technologies, prevention of technogenic and ecological disasters, improvement of the environment.
