Abstract

The analysis of the results of treatment of 53 patients who underwent retroperitoneoscopic ureterolithotomy for ureteral stones was performed. At the same time, in 18 (34%) patients the stent was not installed after surgery (group 1), and in 35 (66.0%) patients a stent was installed (group 2). Drainage of the ureter by installing a stent is a completely justified procedure in the presence of pronounced changes in the wall of the ureter, which are manifested by edema of all layers, the presence of ulceration of the mucous membrane, as well as the phenomena of a perifocal inflammatory process in the tissues surrounding the ureter with the formation of an inflammatory cake. On the other hand, ureteral stenting after RPSU is not a routine procedure, and in the absence of the above changes, it can be abandoned without any complications.
