Abstract

Purpose of Article. The work aims to explore modern means of readers service with the electronic books. To find out the specifics of information service for users with visual impairments using multimedia technologies, mainly electronic books in DAISY format. Мethodology. The methodological basis of the research is the general scientific principles of historicism and scientific objectivity, as well as methods: socio-communicative, cognitive, analysis and synthesis method, prognostic method. Scientific Novelty. The improvement of library service of users in remote mode with electronic books is offered. An essential concept in this direction is the development of the approach for service users with visual impairments in the libraries. Conclusions. The trends in the ensuring of access to the electronic books through a wide range of technical tools are investigated. To serve library users with visual impairments with e-books is required the creation of multimedia content, which is based on the DAISY technology. The variety of technical means to display the content of electronic books in DAISY format is considered.
