Library development strategies in Ukraine

The purpose of the article is an analytical review and definition of strategies for the development of librarianship in Ukraine at the present stage. The methodology consists of the application of general scientific and special methods: methods of analysis, synthesis and generalization, review and analytical
method, and documentary analysis, which allows for achieving this goal. The scientific novelty of the article deals with important problems of the library sphere of Ukraine. The main factors that influenced the transformation processes of the library case in Ukraine are revealed. Particular attention is paid to the problem of libraries in Ukraine, in particular, the process of so-called optimization of public libraries. The tendencies of the reduction of the library network are analyzed. The ratio of information and cultural and educational functionality of publicly accessible libraries is taken into account. Conclusions. The article has proven the need to comply with a certain balance of social demand, target, and resource capabilities of each library. The peculiarities of the Library Development Strategy in Ukraine by 2025, the issues of transformation of representations of specialists of libraries are considered and analyzed the key tasks of the library affairs of Ukraine. The article summarized that the library sphere of Ukraine needs to modernize both the science and practice of library cases and personnel resources and library education.
