Using factor analysis in the study of chemical composition of ground water and at Shiraz and Horramabad intermountain basins of Iran

Abstract

To compare the formation and groundwater contamination of the two large intermountain basins with a large number of chemical elements and compounds (10 or more) is a very difficult task. We have proposed a new method based on the use of factor analysis. Application of this method allows to determine the sources of groundwater pollution and to compare the conditions of their formation on different territories. The method was tested in the study of the chemical composition of groundwater and Shiraz and Horramabad intermountain basins of Iran.
