This article considers the features of the field researches of oil and gas wells cores. The questions of primary research have been studied as well as their drawbacks and advantages in the study of properties and structure of geological cut of mining hole. Basic methods and their relevance to the field study have been grounded, the analysis complexity, the degree of informativenes and reliability of results have been shown. Attention is drawn to the experiments to be carried out to obtain more detailed characteristics of rocks under the following operational and detailed studies of core material.
