Educational component "History of Physical Culture" as a foundation for professional training of specialists in physical culture and sports

Abstract

The article analyzes the significance of the educational component "History of Physical Culture" in the professional training of specialists in the field of physical education and sports. Its role in understanding the evolution of physical practices, their impact on society, and the formation of modern teaching approaches is discussed. Attention is given to historical aspects of the development of physical culture and the importance of this component in addressing current issues such as sedentary lifestyles, digital challenges, and the need to foster holistic health. Purpose. To analyze the role of the educational component "History of Physical Culture" as a foundation for the professional training of future physical education and sports specialists. Research Methods. To achieve the purpose of the study, a set of scientific methods was used: analysis of scientific literature; pedagogical observation; student surveys; statistical data analysis. Conclusions. The survey results allow us to conclude that higher education students generally have a positive assessment of the role of the educational component "History of Physical Culture" in their professional and personal development. The most significant qualities shaped through the study of the history of physical culture, according to students, are professional identity and value orientation.
