Abstract

The article theoretically presents the characteristics of the training process in softball and its specific features. Purpose. To analyze the specifics of the training process in softball. Materials and Methods. The study was conducted at the Comprehensive Children's Sports School "Ukraina" named after Oleksandr Kulyk in the city of Sumy. To achieve the aim, the following research methods were used: theoretical analysis of literary sources and synthesis of best pedagogical practices; analysis of documentary materials and pedagogical observation. Results. It has been proven that sports training is a purposeful long-term process of developing the physical, technical, tactical, and psychological qualities of athletes, aimed at achieving high results in competitions. It was established that the features of the training process in softball focus on improving athletes' general physical fitness and overall health through general developmental exercises; readiness for load lays the foundation for specific exercises and softball training; reducing the risk of injury through strengthening muscles, ligaments, and joints. Components of technical training in softball include the basic elements of the game (throwing, hitting, catching), which are fundamental for successful team interaction. Conclusions. The training of a softball player involves a variety of aspects: physical preparation includes strength training, cardio workouts, flexibility, and mobility; technical preparation includes catching and throwing the ball, hitting, and pitching; tactical preparation includes field positioning, team tactics, and in-game planning; psychological preparation includes motivation, focus, and team cohesion.
