DISCO AS A POPULAR DANCE STYLE OF THE SECOND HALF OF XX CENTURY: CHOREOGRAPHIC STYLISTIC FEATURES

The purpose of the article that publication became the comprehensive analysis of “disco” dance style stylistic features, the definition its aesthetic and choreographic signs. The methodology of the research includes using such culturological methods: observation, formalization, comparison. Scientific Novelty. The novelty of that publication is in addition to already existing academical basis new theoretical conclusions about compositional and lexical disco-dance features, its performance manner. Conclusions. The “disco” dance style arose in the middle of 1970s when the “dancing to disc” trend was started. “Disco” music had the quick rhythmic base which emphasized synthesizer music and vocal falsetto. For “disco” dance stylistic was inherent using arbitrary monotonous moves, which imitated musical accompaniment nature. Disco-dance mostly performed in place or with minor advancement in stepping-up nature (with half-angled knees). Besides, stepping-ups used various jumps, accentuated and energetic hand moves and clapping.
