Review process and response to appeals

Pre-desk review

The handling editor assesses manuscripts for their alignment with the journal's scope and editorial policy. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's requirements regarding structure and formatting will be rejected before undergoing peer review. Authors are requested to revise and resubmit manuscripts that do not adhere to these requirements. If authors fail to respond to the editor's revision requests within 30 calendar days, it is assumed that the manuscript is no longer being considered for publication by the journal. Manuscripts with a substantial amount of text borrowed from other sources, as detected by the StrikePlagiarism system, are returned to the authors for revision. In cases where plagiarism is evident, the article is returned to the author without the opportunity for resubmission.

Peer-review

All submitted articles undergo a double-blind peer review process following the Recommendations for Reviewers by the European Association of Science Editors and the guidelines of Ars Linguodidacticae. External review involves at least two experts in the specific scientific field of the article, considering their publications and research focus. Editorial board members may also participate as reviewers. The reviewer's evaluation follows the OJS template, with results quantified accordingly (Form).

Reviewer decision options:

  • Accept
  • Accept with minor revisions (5 days for minor revisions based on reviewer comments)
  • Accept with major revisions (10 days for substantial manuscript revisions)
  • Reject with resubmission option (resubmit the article after significant revisions)
  • Reject (no resubmission allowed)

The author must submit the revised article along with clear responses to the reviewers' comments. All modifications made by the author should be clearly marked in the text of the article. In case of a second round of review, the reviewer may be requested to evaluate the revised manuscript considering the recommendations provided during the initial review. The entire review process should not exceed 3 months from the date of article submission to the reviewer.

Аppeals

The Editorial Board and Publisher take appropriate measures to address any appeal or claim regarding ethical violations related to a submitted manuscript or published article in the Journal. Each report of unethical behavior must be investigated regardless of when the alleged violation occurred. If evidence of ethical misconduct is confirmed, the Editorial Board and Publisher will issue corrections, retractions, or apologies on the journal's website.

In case of disputes, the Journal's Editorial Board follows the guidelines provided by COPE regarding publication ethics violations: https://publicationethics.org
