INFORMATION AND DOCUMENT PROFILE OF EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS IN THE CONTEXT OF NEW INTEGRATED SPECIALTY

Abstract

Purpose of Article. The purpose of these article is to analyze development of the specialty “Documentation and Information Activities” in the framework of the new integrated specialty 029 Information, library and archival work. Methodology of the research consists in applying general scientific and special methods of cognition, in particular, methods of comparative analysis, statistical, terminological, chronological and  other research methods, among which a special place is occupied by analytical monitoring of websites on the Internet. Scientific novelty of this paper lies in the fact that the features of the development and changes of the specialty “Documentation and Information Activities” in the context of the modernization of the educational process in Ukrainian universities are traced. Conclusions. As a result of the study, it was found that the specialty “Documentation and Information Activities” in terms of educational reforms remained meaningful, but changed its place, taking up in a new integrated specialty 029 Information, library and archival work as a priority educational and professional program/specialization with such same name or partially modified, along with other components of the library and archive profile. There is a tendency towards the predominant development of the information and documentation profile of educational programs of specialty 029, which combines documentation activities with information and communication technologies.
