Profilisation and Diversification of Educational Programmes for Training Library and Information Specialists

The purpose of the study is to examine trends in the specialisation and diversification of educational programmes for training library and information specialists in domestic higher education institutions. The research methodology consists of the use of general scientific methods. Methods of analysis and synthesis were used to study theoretical and empirical sources. Content analysis was used to establish the productivity of the use of concepts in specialised educational programmes. The comparative method and the method of logical generalisation were used to study the experience of profiling and diversifying educational programmes for training specialists in higher education institutions in Ukraine, and the forecasting method was used to identify trends in the convergence of educational content. The method of visualisation in tabular form was used to illustrate and argue the research results. The scientific novelty of the work lies in clarifying the prevalence of digital transformation processes in the content of education in the field of information. Library and archival science based on the formulations of the names of 65 bachelor’s and 34 master’s educational programmes currently in force, and a conceptual scheme for analysing the content orientation of educational programmes has been developed. Conclusions. The analysis conducted using a broad empirical base has shown that the processes of specialisation and diversification are developing in the direction of such relevant aspects of professional training as information analytics, information and communication management, documentation and information support for management activities, PR and HR technologies, internet marketing, media technologies, artificial intelligence technologies, and cloud technologies. Technological development driven by global digitalisation processes and the integration of related and closely related fields of social activity serve as the basis for building diversified educational programmes for higher education.
