Development of flexibility of girls aged 5–6 years who are engaged in rhythmic gymnastics

The article presents the features of flexibility development in 5–6-year-old girls engaged in rhythmic gymnastics. Purpose. To assess the effectiveness of a set of special exercises aimed at improving the flexibility of young gymnasts. Materials and Methods. The study involved 24 athletes aged 5–6 years, divided into control and experimental groups. A pedagogical experiment, testing, and methods of mathematical statistics were used. Results. It was found that the proposed set of exercises significantly improved flexibility indicators, especially in the “split” test (+51.3%) and the “split jump” test (+75.0%). Conclusions. The obtained data confirm the effectiveness of the methodology and its appropriateness for use in the training process of beginner-level gymnasts.
