Abstract

The article deals with the development of plans to use the Russian Black Sea Fleet after the end of Russo-Japanese War (1904–1905) and to the beginning of First World War in the context of doing by it mine warfare in theBlack Sea. The author reveals the theoretical work of the Russian Navy Department during this period referring tasks of the Black Sea Fleet and ways of their implementation by means of mines that have become a valuable contribution to thedevelopment of Russian naval warfare and received practical implementation during the First World War. The article revealsdependence of active (offensive) and defense tasks of Black Sea Fleet of the military and political situation, whichreflected in different variants of plans of mine warfare in the Black Sea during 1907–1914.
