Abstract

Purpose of work. The research is related to the genetic origins of the prelude genre and the essence of prelusion. Methodology of research involves application of the historical and systematic methods. The mentioned methodological approach allows us to analyze historical origins of different religions, to explore tendencies of prelusion and to disclose the meaning of the Introduction – beginning – of prelusion in divine service. Scientific novelty of the work involves the idea of expansion of genetic prerequisites of the development of the prelude genre. Conclusions. Origins of prelude and prelusion date back to the ancient times, they can be found in sources of different religions – in the Old Testament divine service, in early Christianity, in Catholic liturgical psalms, in the church of Eastern rite and in a Protestant divine service. There are prerequisites for the creation of the prelude genre as well as prelusion – as a principle of the prelude performance – in all religions.
