Abstract

The Purpose of article is to cover the main aspects of the influence of the gymnastic movement on the art of choreography of the early twentieth century. Methodology of the research consists in using comparative-historical, problem-chronological and structural-system methods, as well as general scientific methods of theoretical research (analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, etc.). This methodological approach allows us to reveal and study the influence of sports and gymnastic movement on the art of choreography. The scientific novelty of the work is that it is the first attempt of systematic analysis of the influence of gymnastic movement on the art of choreography at the beginning of the twentieth century. Conclusions. The process of influence of sports and gymnastic movement on the art of choreography in the early twentieth century had mixed results. It enriched the vocabulary of dance with acrobatic techniques, supports and expanded the scope of creative activity of choreographers. The synthesis of choreography and sports has led to the increase of visual appeal, eccentricity of acts and general promotion of dance art.
