Abstract

The purpose of the article is to define the basic principles of the implementation of salon-style traditions in the works of French composers for flute and piano. The methodology is based on musicology theory of style and genre, style analysis, as well as a musical and cultural approach that allows us to consider the composer style in the broad context of the musical tradition. The scientific novelty consists in examining chamber-ensemble works of French composers of the second half of the XIX century in the aspect of inheriting the traditions of salon style. Being a classic of the flute performer's repertoire, these works have not yet become the object of a special study. Conclusions. In the evolution of French chamber-ensemble music, the salon culture occupies a significant place, because it formed the functional, structural, aesthetic and genre-style foundations of this sphere of composer creativity. In works for flute and piano, G. Fore, F. Gober and S. Shamind originated the traditions of the salon style, conditioned by the common national and cultural context of creativity of the French authors. The main principles of the traditions of the salon style were the reliance on his genre-style indicators and the peculiarities of the living conditions for creating a musical composition.
