The creative works of A. I. Minzhulin in the context of the reconstruction of ancient jewelry technologies

Abstract

The purpose of the article is to analyze the technology of making original jewelry by the Ukrainian artist, jeweler, restorer Alexander Minzhulin (1941-2013), to reveal the master's artistic innovations in combination with the lost methods of making jewelry, in particular, in the grain technique. The methodology is the use of art history analysis, methods of systematization, comparison, and generalization. The scientific novelty consists of the identifying technological and stylistic features of A. Minzhulin's author's jewelry from 1986-1988 and carrying out a graphical analysis of his jewelry set. Conclusions. Analysis of the shape and technology of making A. Minzhulin's author's jewelry, with the aim of processing them in art history, made it possible to determine that not only the art of Kievan Rus but also ancient Greece, Scythia, as well as Byzantium had a significant influence on the master's work. The artist successfully combined ancient artistic symbolic forms in his creative works in combination with new technological jewelry techniques.
