The purpose of the study is to outline and analyse the theoretical aspects of the formation and development of parody as an artistic and spectacular form in contemporary Ukrainian culture. The methodology of the study is based on the theoretical method of systematisation, which is complex; it includes the historical method, which is used to study the formation and development of parody in contemporary spectacular culture; the cultural method, which allowed analysing the theoretical foundations of parody formation and development in contemporary Ukrainian culture. The scientific novelty of the article lies in the fact that for the first time a study of the theoretical aspects of the formation and development of parody as an artistic and spectacular form in contemporary Ukrainian culture was carried out on the basis of the study of scientific works of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries devoted to these complex multilevel concepts. The historical aspect of the development of parody in spectacular culture, the socio-cultural and ethical aspects of the formation of parody, aspects of the influence of media and modern digital technologies on the development of parody in modern realities, psychological and legal aspects are outlined and analysed. Conclusions. As a result of the analysis and systematisation of sources of philosophical, cultural and artistic studies, it was determined that the research of theoretical aspects of the formation and development of parody in spectacular culture allowed us to assert that parody is not only an entertainment form, but also a powerful means of cultural communication and development of modern Ukrainian scenic and spectacular culture. It is proved that parody as an artistic and spectacular form in contemporary Ukrainian culture has deep psychological and sociological dimensions, providing not only entertainment but also critical thinking and social change.
