The purpose of the article is to identify the influence of avant-garde art on the formation of images in the visual culture of the 21st century, enriching the design environment with new meanings. The research methodology involved the application of methods of analysis and synthesis, abstraction and generalisation, and the use of an interdisciplinary approach (psychology, philosophy, cultural studies, art history, architecture, design) to derive well-founded conclusions. Scientific novelty of the article lies in presenting avant-garde art as an important factor in shaping images in 21st-century design. Conclusions. Avant-garde art is a powerful source of ideas for modern design, both in the global and local contexts, enriching visual spaces with artistic imagery. Its principles, based on experimentation, the search for new forms, and means of expression, enable designers to implement extraordinary solutions that combine tradition and innovation. In various types of design – graphic, industrial, architecture, interior design, fashion, and more – avant-garde has introduced new approaches to creating objects and, consequently, their images. The use of abstractions – geometric, organic, and dynamic – has made it possible to create bright and emotionally rich images. The digital era has given a new impetus to avant-garde ideas, bringing them into the realm of interactive design, generative art, and animation. Thanks to the rich history of national avant-garde, Ukrainian designers actively use these ideas to create images that synthesise local identity with global trends. Thus, avant-garde art is not only a tool for artistic self-expression but also a method for creating new images – visual representations – of modern visual culture. Its symbolism inspires artists, including designers, to experiment, search for new solutions, and reinterpret traditions, proving its relevance in the dynamically changing contemporary world. This forms a new format of dialogue between the viewer and the environment, creating and presenting images in design that hold material and spiritual value.
