The article presents the results of the long-term studies of the collection samples of grain legumes (pea, soybean, bean, chick-pea, lentil) of the Centre of the plant genetic resources of Ukraine under the complex of characteristics which determine the base material available to mechanical harvesting. It is established that the collection extensively represents the base material projected for the use within the selective process when creating the modern grain legumes varieties with high technological indexes. The largest value for selective practice is repre- sented by the samples of grain legumes with its complex of indexes: pea – 89 samples, soybean – 253 samples, bean – 7 samples, chick-pea – 64 samples, lentil – 3 samples
