Abstract

The effect of accelerated aging and freezing at the temperature of -20oC of seed of a number of pea varieties on the level of catalase activity in seedlings and seeds was investigated. Accelerated aging caused a decrease, but freezing caused an increase in germination energy and germination as compared with the control variant of the majority of the studied varieties. Both factors increased catalase activity in seeds and seedlings. The level of catalase activity in the seeds and seedlings from pea seeds depends on varietal differences
