Харківська селекційна станція – заснування та початок селекційної роботи з культурою озимої пшениці

Abstract

This article contains information about the foundation of the Kharkiv plant breeding, and its role in the organization of selection work with winter wheat.. In Ukraine at the beginning of XX century the development of research work had a significant impact, agricultural society, active in rural councils, the Department of Agriculture and the private initiative of farmers. So for the promotion of Kharkiv Agricultural Society in 1908 was established in Kharkiv Agricultural Station, which at the suggestion of the Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture in 1909 reorganized into Selection. The first director of the institution was elected P.V. Budrina. His assistants were B.K. Yenken and V.J. Yuryev. The basic methods of selection appeared selection and hybridization of new varieties of crops (cereals and sugar beet culture). In winter wheat the abovementioned methods have been created some promising numbers, lines and varieties with high economic-valuable characteristics: Erytrospermum 917, Milturum 120, Yur'yivka, Ferruhineum 1239
