Abstract

The system of expressive means of contemporary ballet is significantly extended as compared with previous periods. Globalization processes, rapid scientific and technological development growth are displayed mainly in diversity

of scenographic design, improvement of stage equipment. However, the system of main expressive ballet features,

forming its specificity, has remained constant and invariable for a long time. We also can’t dispute the fact that a ballet dancer has remained the main figure of ballet theatre.

Actor individuality of ballet dancer is now the subject of numerous discussions and debates: how and wherein it

is expressed, how it can be displayed. In most cases experts agree that nowadays in choreography we can find less and less numbers of outstanding original dancers. To discover the causes of such processes we should identify specificity of actors artistry phenomenon in ballet theatre that is the aim of the article. Objective: to distinguish the concept of "actors artistry" and its specificity in terms of choreography, including ballet, as well as the place and role of actors artistry in the system of expressive means of ballet theatre.

Artistry of ballet theatre dancer, as well as drama theatre actor, is based on stage acting rules.

Actors artistry as a discipline in the system of ballet dancers training was formed in 1930 based on                                 K. S. Stanislavsky theory [1], however, until today there is no steady methods of its teaching. Although, practically all specialized choreographic schools, choreographic faculties of higher art educational institutions provide the students with courses on "Dance performance artistry" or "Stage direction and actors artistry". Kyiv National Institute of Culture and Arts is among such institutions where within the course "Stage direction and dance performance artistry" students master acting technique and learn methods of creation of stage choreography image and basics of the theory of actors artistry in drama and ballet. Education of versatile choreographer, dancer, handling various dancing systems is not possible without his/her development as an actor/actress, which contributes to creation of all-round developed specialist.

Thus, dance performance artistry is an integral part of the artistic palette of a ballet composition, an important

means of expression in ballet theatre. Specificity of actors artistry in ballet comes from specific features of the

choreography, where artistic image is created through such means as plastique and human body expression. However, there is no doubt that the main rule of drama theatre actors artistry, such as image transformation, is also absolutely actual and effectively works in ballet art.
