The purpose of the article is to highlight some aspects of the genre and stylistic variety of choreographic productions of the Ukrainian choreographer, outline his director-choreographer's approaches in the process of stage theatrical plays as the basis of the artist's choreographic skill at the early stage of the creative path. Methodology determines the use of art criticism and analytical-synthetic method with the historical-typological, which made it possible to explore the genre-stylistic spectrum of the creative work of the Ukrainian choreographer in opera and ballet theaters. The scientific novelty of the work is that it first attempts to investigate the artist's creative achievements not only as a choreographer but also as a ballet actor in the 1930s. It was found out that folk-choreographic factors nurtured the creative talent of P. Virsky, helping to create deep-psychological scenic images. Conclusions - it was proved that P.Virsky's innovative stage-genre forms of choreographic productions on the opera stage were used as effective means of forming the national culture of the audience. With all the varied colors of his ballet performances in the specified historical and cultural period, their stylistic coloring and thinking with bright dance images are clearly evident.
