The purpose of the article is to generalize information about international identifiers as tools for organizing information in the library environment and to demonstrate their interrelationships. The research methodology is based on the application of general scientific and specialized methods of cognition, in particular the systems approach, scientific analysis, synthesis, and generalization, which made it possible to identify, describe, and summarize information on international identifiers used in the library environment. The method of tabular data presentation enabled the structuring of identifiers for the convenience of analysis; the method of systematization facilitated the organization of information; and the terminological method was applied to define the concept of “entity”. The scientific novelty of the article lies in updating of the research on the identification of digital objects and expanding the understanding of international identifiers in the library environment. A multilevel system of interrelations among identifiers is demonstrated. Conclusions. International identifiers cover virtually all types of information resources and their creators. They serve as key instruments for ensuring the standardization and accuracy of library processes, as they enable the unambiguous identification of documents, authors, and organizations across different countries. The use of identifiers ensures the interoperability of catalogs and databases, facilitating search and data exchange between systems. Moreover, in scholarly communication, they enhance transparency and visibility of research outputs by enabling the tracking of authorship, publications, and institutional affiliations, while persistent links in the digital environment ensure long-term accessibility and accurate citation of electronic resources. The protection of copyright and transparency in the field of intellectual property constitute an additional advantage of identifier use. International identifiers are thus not merely technical labels but effective means of organizing information that determine the quality and reliability of communication in the library environment, support interaction in the field of information organization, and create conditions for the integration of libraries, archives, publishers, and digital platforms into a unified global network.
