Effect of operation life of Ag/pumice catalyst on his efficiency

Despite the fact that the technology of formaldehyde process on metal catalysts, and particularly on silver Ag/pumice catalysts has been known since 1920, it has no data, describing the effect of operation life on the efficiency of their work. The article provides the data on the changing of mole output of formaldehyde for any period of time of four month operation. The article provides the curve of dependence of mole output of formaldehyde on the term of operation of the Ag/pumice catalyst. On the basis of the dependence, using the method of regression analysis, we have drawn an empirical equation that allows production workers to determine the mole output of formaldehyde at any stage of operation of the Ag/pumice catalyst without chemical or instrumental methods of quantitative analysis. The article presents the laboratory unit to determine the catalytic activity of the samples of the Ag/pumice catalysts, which despite the simplicity of the hardware design is the same as the basic elements of industrial unit for the receipt of formaldehyde, and the allowable difference of parallel definitions of formaldehyde output in it does not exceed 0.2%.
