The presented article is devoted to the investigation of methods of adaptive multimedia streaming using TCP/HTTP. The joint usage of these protocols depends on the fact that TCP is the most dominant protocol of streaming over the Internet. In addition, the advantage of HTTP is the ability to provide easy traversals of firewalls and NAT devices. Adaptation during the streaming is necessary due to the network conditions variability, which is critical in the transmission of multimedia and tends to result in the delays in the content playback. HTTP adaptive streaming is currently represented by the standard MPEG-DASH. The client-server interaction is arranged according to the standard, which ensures the interoperability of clients and servers from different vendors. To arrange the adaptive TCP streaming it is proposed to use multiple concurrent TCP connections. Therefore, the arrangement of adaptation at different layers significantly increases the streaming efficiency and the quality of serviceReferences
