This article describes different ways of sulfate ions removing from wastewaters, which are formed at enterprises of ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy, oil and gas industry, heat-and-power engineering, during sulfuric acid and fertilizers’ production. There are the results as to the effect of consumption of aluminum coagulants on the efficiency of sulfate recovery when softening water with lime. It was determined that increasing the concentration of sulfates in an equivalent amount increases the consumption of coagulant and lime. It was shown that in order to reduce the consumption of coagulant the residual concentration of sulfates can be reduced up to 20 ÷ 30 mg-equivalent/dm3 at processing only by lime. The residual alkalinity and water hardness can be adjusted by carbonic acid feeding, or by correlation of sodium hydroxoaluminat and aluminum hydroxochloride. Thus, the development of effective reagent methods using aluminum coagulants for effective treatment of sulfate-containing waters from sulfate ions and hardness ions can solve the problem of drinking water supply for areas, where there is a shortage of itReferences
