The article analyzes the peculiarities of management of development project in construction. We have identified the need of the feasibility study in the pre-investment stage of management of a construction project. It was noted that in the domestic practice the feasibility study was carried out on the "planning" stage of the life cycle of the management of the project for the construction of production facilities. The author proposed to include the feasibility study as an obligatory stage of management of all construction projects in the pre-investment stage. The information model of the formation of the feasibility study was developed and presented by logical and structural sequence of actions (from initiation to development of the design assignment). Attention was focused on the problem of choosing the ground area according to the criteria: the size and shape, the availability of transportation and utility infrastructure, engineering and geographical, geological and hydrological conditions. The general scheme of support of choosing of the best variant of the construction object was suggested.
