Despite the large number of methods of detection and classification of sources and consequences of forest fires, until now little attention was paid to the methods of improvement of the effectiveness and efficiency of the decision-making process of an operator in the sphere of management of fire safety in the forest sector. In the article, the authors proved the appropriateness and prospects of using data of remote satellite sensing of the Earth's surface for the purpose of efficient ecological - economic assessment of the effects of forest fires, as well as prior training of operators, working with satellite images. The article presents a physically adequate model of image formation in the presence of masking hazards, the algorithm of processing of satellite images and the result of application of this algorithm for the processing of the real satellite images.
