Abstract

Nowadays it is considered that it is not necessary for a navigator to know the system of the modern navigation equipment, and if problems arise, they must be solved by a service. But as it is famous, nowadays almost all navigation problems are solved automatically, without human intervention. Therefore, the opinion that the navigation system will solve all the problems is dangerous, because it leads to the fact that modern marine school under pressure of this opinion reduce the level of training of the basic concepts of navigation, conning, technical means of navigation, etc.
But what will happen if a ship occurs in a non-standard situation, whether it will be pounding of waves and lightning during a storm, a short-circuit as a result of fire or flooding, loss of signal from a satellite for any reason, pirates’ attack? What is the stability of the modern navigation system? What is necessary to do to knock out the navigation system?
The article describes the model of stability of the navigation system, which allows simulating various abnormal situations. As a result of the simulation, it was found that the automatic mode of operation depends on a single parameter - a global satellite system. One of the main results of the research can be considered the assessment of the required competence of a navigator.
