Abstract

The article analyzes the cinematic version of the epic narrative of the Icelandic sagas, which is presented in the genre of socalled "Cod westerns". Movies directed by Hrafn Gunnlaugsson and other Scandinavian filmmakers have been put into the context of the Western world’s cultural development.
