The Ukrainian Psalter songs of the XVIIth – the beginning of the XXIst century are characterized, the place ofPsalter verse paraphrase in the Ukrainian sacred song tradition, which is presented of various Christian denominations,is determined. The differences between Ukrainian and Russian tradition of psalm poetic paraphrase for singing aremarked, the parallels between liturgical and paraliturgical choir creativity and sacred songs, written in Psalter verse paraphrase,are held.
