The reviewed monograph by I.M. Yan reveals the actual issues of studying and preserving the national historical and cultural heritage for the national cultural and artistic issues. Legacy is a key element of the development of national consciousness, an influential factor in the establishment of unifying spiritual values and priorities in society. The Ukrainian music and drama theater has always been an important part of the national historical and cultural heritage, an expression of the code of ethnic consciousness, a source of preservation of the traditions of the Ukrainian nation. The conceptual elaboration of the specifics of the development of the Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater is one of the priority directions of contemporary art studies.References
