Troista Muzyka folk Ensembles as a Phenomenon of Ukrainian Traditional Musical Culture and a Factor in preserving National Identity under Globalization

Abstract

The objective of this article is to identify the definite features of the functioning of traditional troista muzyka ensembles as a phenomenon of Ukrainian traditional musical culture and one of the most important factors of the preservation of Ukrainian national identity in the context of globalization processes. The research methodology is based on principles of analysis, systematization, and generalization according to historical, culturological, art criticism, and axiological methods of analysis and chronotopic and systemic methods. Their application allows to identify the specific features of functioning of troista muzyka folk ensembles as a phenomenon of traditional Ukrainian music and a vital element of national identity preservation in the era of globalization and recognize the impact of sociocultural evolution on traditional folk music-making in the course of time and space. Scientific novelty of the research lies in establishing concrete traits of troista muzyka ensemble performance as a phenomenon of Ukrainian national musical culture in the modern sociocultural space on the basis of examining historical and existing trends in Ukrainian instrumental folk music. The article substantiates the role of troista muzyka in preserving national identity and ritual tradition. It also takes into account the possibilities for the renewal, renovation, and preservation of Ukrainian folk music culture under conditions of globalization processes. Conclusion. Currently, troista muzyka folk ensembles are resistant and adaptable in accordance with global transformations. Demonstrating their uniqueness and significance, they are the driving factor in the preservation of national and cultural identity. Thus it is reasonable to acknowledge them as a phenomenon of traditional musical culture of Ukraine, which is characterized by consolidated genre and stylistic characteristics in which archaic folklore narratives, models of improvisational expression, and codes of ethno-identification synthesized.
