Purpose – the study aims to analyze the innovative activities of cultural and artistic institutions in Ukraine in the early 21st century as a factor of modernization of the sociocultural space amid digital transformations and socio-political challenges. Methodology. An interdisciplinary approach combining institutional, cultural studies, and functionalist theoretical frameworks was applied. A comprehensive set of methods was employed, including: content analysis of official documents, scientific publications, and project documentation of cultural and artistic institutions to identify key trends in innovative activities; typology development to systematize different types of innovations across technological, sociocultural, educational, organizational, and heritage preservation aspects; comparative analysis of cultural institutions’ practices in various Ukrainian regions to reveal features and challenges of local innovation; case studies of leading cultural institutions and projects such as Mystetskyi Arsenal, Jam Factory Art Center, and the Ukrainian Institute for in-depth examination of innovation implementation mechanisms; and analysis of social and political contexts influencing cultural space modernization in Ukraine through interdisciplinary approaches. Scientific Novelty. For the first time, a systematic typology of innovations in the activities of Ukrainian cultural and artistic institutions has been proposed, encompassing technological, sociocultural, educational, organizational dimensions, as well as aspects related to the preservation of cultural heritage. Conclusions: The innovative activity of Ukrainian cultural and artistic institutions is multidimensional, including digitalization, sociocultural initiatives, educational programs, organizational transformations, and heritage preservation efforts. The implementation of these innovations contributes to the modernization of the cultural sector, enhances social cohesion, and facilitates adaptation to 21st-century challenges; however, resource shortages and institutional barriers remain significant issues.
