The purpose of the article is to analyse the theoretical and practical features of the modern potential of art marathons and their practices through the prism of promoting cultural and patriotic narratives. The research methodology comprises general scientific principles of systematisation and generalisation of the research problem, which enabled the author to identify and scientifically substantiate theoretical approaches to the concepts of ‘art marathon’ and ‘cultural-patriotic narrative’. The purpose and objectives of the article determined the use of an axiological approach, which helped to reveal the interdisciplinary nature of the theories under consideration and to identify the personalised scientific positions of Ukrainian scholars. The use of the analytical method permitted the identification of conceptual foundations for further scientific prospects for understanding the multifunctional content of the art marathon from the perspective of applied cultural studies. The scientific novelty lies in the study of theoretical and practical approaches to the concept of ‘art marathon,’ examining it as a practice of promoting cultural and patriotic narratives in their applied cultural understanding. Conclusions. There is a clear need in Ukraine to actively introduce cultural and patriotic narratives into all spheres of human life. Decolonising Ukraine, we need to fill cultural gaps with our own Ukrainian, unique, and inimitable culture, offering Ukrainians something that is no less valuable artistically, but more natural, organic, and Ukrainian. Cultural practices should reveal local characteristics through the creativity of unique Ukrainians, such as Mykola Vinhranovskyi for Mykolaiv and beyond. It is the annual holding of the Vynnychenko Art Marathon in the poet’s hometown, with a gradual expansion of its geography, which is the main tool for promoting cultural and patriotic narratives, local processes of derussification and decommunisation. The researched art marathon and its cultural and patriotic narratives have revealed its social and state value, which lies not only in the development of a local cultural unit, but also in its social, image, economic influence, and development.
