The purpose of the article is to identify the possibilities of cultural and artistic design as an effective tool for integrating traditional national values and modern visual practices in the visual arts. The author focuses on the potential of synthesising ethno-cultural heritage with current artistic means as a way to preserve and transform national identity. Research methodology. The work uses a comprehensive interdisciplinary approach, which includes art historical analysis, culturological research, as well as methods of comparison, systematisation, and interpretation of artistic phenomena. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of successful cultural and artistic projects that demonstrate a combination of traditional and modern visual images. Scientific novelty. The scientific novelty of the article lies in the definition of cultural and artistic design as a separate form of artistic activity that contributes to the formation of new meanings at the intersection of tradition and modernity. For the first time, the mechanisms of adaptation of ethnic symbols to the requirements of the modern art space were analysed through the tools of project thinking. Conclusions. The study confirmed that cultural and artistic design is an effective means of actualising traditions in modern fine arts. Such projects contribute to the formation of cultural identity, ensure the preservation of intangible heritage and at the same time meet the aesthetic needs of the modern viewer. The author emphasises the importance of supporting such initiatives at the institutional level.
