The purpose of this study is to explore the issue of polyphony in arrangements of Ukrainian folk songs by Ukrainian composer-guitarists, within the context of the features of polyphonic singing traditions in Ukrainian folklore. The research methodology includes principles of systematisation and generalisation of information, as well as analytical, musicological, and historical methods. These approaches made it possible to analyse and systematise existing scholarly research on the subject, to examine the composers’ arrangements of Ukrainian folk songs, and to summarise information regarding the use of polyphony in this genre of their work. The scientific novelty lies in highlighting polyphony as a characteristic feature of the creative output of Ukrainian composer-guitarists in the genre of folk song arrangement, considering the specific traits, types, and historical development of Ukrainian polyphonic traditions. Conclusions. Polyphonic arrangements of folk songs, which are inherently polyphonic in nature, have a deep-rooted tradition in Ukrainian musical culture and remain a popular genre in the works of Ukrainian composer-guitarists. This is evidenced by the large number of compositions of varying complexity — from educational pieces for beginners to technically challenging concert works. Polyphony, as a defining feature of the work of Ukrainian composer-guitarists, gives these arrangements their distinctive uniqueness and serves as an important means of preserving and promoting folk musical heritage, combining tradition with contemporary performance practices, and enriching the repertoire of Ukrainian guitar performers.
