The purpose of the article is to explore the communicative potential of Ukrainian decorative and applied art through the prism of verbal-oral, visual-figurative, practical-activity, and sociocultural effects. The research methodology includes general scientific principles of systematisation and generalisation of the problem under study, which made it possible to identify and scientifically substantiate theoretical approaches to the concepts of ‘communication’ and ‘communicative potential’ in the context of applied art. The purpose and objectives of the article determined the use of structural-functional analysis, which made it possible to consider the communicative effects of decorative and applied art practices in the system of knowledge formation and practical sustainability. The use of the analytical method made it possible to identify the conceptual foundations for further theoretical and practical art history perspectives in the optics of studying the communicative functionality of decorative and applied art, its transformation in the context of global influences and the challenges of war. Scientific novelty. To consider and substantiate decorative and applied art as an integral communicative system capable of transmitting knowledge, values, symbols, and cultural codes through various means of communication. Conclusions. Decorative and applied arts in Ukraine are not only a sphere of unique art and creativity, but also a powerful communicative phenomenon capable of uniting people through a common idea, cultural values, history, and craftsmanship. The communicative potential of decorative and applied art lies in its ability to convey meaning through material forms, combine tradition and modernity, and ensure cultural continuity and intercultural dialogue through artistic form, colour, symbols, and emotions. The practices of transmitting decorative and applied arts create a variety of communicative effects: verbal-oral, visual-imaginative, practical-activity-based, and sociocultural. Such features of communication in decorative and applied arts as symbolism, materiality, tactility, emotionality, dialogue, and partnership allow us to convey the cultural experience of the Ukrainian people, preserve their traditions, establish cultural dialogue between generations, and transform folk motifs into new modern contexts.
