The purpose of the work is to comprehensively analyse contemporary cinema as one of the key agents of mediatisation of culture and to identify its role in the processes of construction and transformation of symbolic identities in the globalised socio-cultural space. The research methodology is based on the application of a set of methods of cultural and art history analysis, as well as semiotic and analytical methods. A comparative method was also used to compare different cinematic practices in the context of mass culture and auteur cinema, as well as a structural-functional approach to understanding the mechanisms of production and transmission of symbolic images of identity in the digital media environment. The scientific novelty lies in substantiating the conceptual vision of contemporary cinema as an active factor of mediatisation of culture, which not only reflects social processes, but also directly participates in the formation of symbolic identities. An interpretation of cinema as a space of intersection of artistic, media and socio-cultural practices is proposed, within which there is a rethinking of identification models (national, political, gender). Conclusions. As a result of the conducted research, it was found that modern cinema in the conditions of mediatisation of culture performs the function of a significant mechanism of symbolic production, capable of constructing new forms of collective and individual identity. At the same time, cinema appears as a dynamic communicative space, which combines aesthetic innovations and media strategies of influence, which actualises its meaning in modern cultural processes.
