Cultural Value of Works of Art Generated by Artificial Intelligence

The purpose of this article is to highlight new trends in the development of cultural values through the study of works of art generated by artificial intelligence. The methodological basis of the study is a combination of two approaches: artistic (assessment of their material and artistic value as a result of artists’ creative work using new technologies, and studying the demand for these works to establish their value) and cultural (studying the cultural value of a work that has unique artistic and aesthetic significance in the socio-cultural space). Methods of comparative analysis, synthesis, observation, artistic interpretation and visual analysis of works of art generated by AI, analysis of cultural values, and the method of expert assessments of the transformation of the sociocultural space were used. Scientific novelty. For the first time, works of art generated by AI are considered as a tool for the development of modern sociocultural space, in which the author’s idea is embodied with the help of (or jointly with) AI. Methodological approaches to identifying cultural values that promote innovation and sociocultural transformations are defined based on the application of the Delphi method and analysis of data on the quality, colour, size, aesthetics of a work of art, and the dynamics of its sale using the Mei Moses art index. Conclusions. A modern trend in the transformation of the sociocultural space is the presentation in galleries, exhibitions, and auctions of works of art created by humans with the help of (or in collaboration with) AI. They promote innovation and are highly valued and in demand on the art market. Their specific characteristics are the cultural value given to the artwork by the human author, combined with the value of the combinatorial and exploratory creativity of AI (in the absence of its ability to bring something radically new to art). New sociocultural changes have been identified, related to the emergence in the artistic creativity of contemporary artists of such cultural values as care for people and freedom of creative self-expression through AI.
