Abstract

Purpose of the article is to identify the features of the modern approach to the sound design of a performance through the prism of the problems of hybridization of theatre and audiovisual art. Research methodology. The complex, systemic and typological methods (to study the features of the development of sound design at the current stage of society’s development), the culturological, structural-functional method, the comparative-typological method were applied, which contributed to the generalisation of the theoretical and methodological foundations of the study of the hybridisation of theatrical and audiovisual in the context of the issues of sound design of stage production and the identification of the features of sound design tools in the process of creating multimedia performances. Scientific novelty. The issues of sound design of theatrical performances were considered in the context of strengthening the integration of elements of audiovisual art into stage works. The features of creating an immersive environment of multimedia performances by means of sound design were analysed; effective tools and common approaches to sound design of modern theatre performances were identified, which meet the needs of information and communication culture of the first quarter of the 21st century. Conclusions. Under the influence of integration processes that combine (technologically and informationally) various means of information and communication, modern theatre continues to search for new staging forms in which sound plays an important role. This is directly related to the development of a specific culture of creating and representing a performance to the viewer, who is attached to the high quality of sound delivery in the information and communication space of the first quarter of the 21st century. Among the most illustrative examples of the modern approach to sound in a hybrid stage space: the primary origin of the narrative from music; the creation of a unique sound style and sound world of the production, which is not simply present on the stage, but rather forms a multidimensional space around the stage action; the study of the relationship between sound and image, as well as the limits and possibilities of the most classic cinematic sound in the conditions of the stage. Creating a sound design for multimedia performances is a complex process of construction, reading, interpretation and reconstruction. From this point of view, it seems useful to turn to a semiotic view of these types of processes, which opens up prospects for further scientific research.
