Academic drawing as the basis for the formation of volumetric and plastic thinking in art education

The purpose of the article is to determine the role of academic drawing as a fundamental means of forming volumetric-plastic thinking in the system of modern art education, as well as to identify didactic opportunities in the process of professional training of future artists and sculptors. The research methodology is based on the comprehensive use of historical and art-historical, comparative and systemic methods to understand the role of academic tradition in the context of modern educational transformations and generalise the pedagogical experience of teaching drawing in art educational institutions. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the analysis of the formation of volumetric-plastic thinking in the process of teaching academic drawing, which acts as an important means of integrating theoretical knowledge and practical skills, ensuring the formation of holistic artistic thinking of students of art educational institutions. Conclusions. Academic drawing remains a fundamental component of art education, as it ensures the development of volumetric and plastic thinking necessary for the professional activity of an artist and sculptor, its didactic principles contribute to the formation of a constructive perception of form, spatial imagination and plastic expressiveness in the depiction of nature. In the conditions of modern educational transformations, academic drawing retains its methodological significance and can be effectively combined with the latest technologies of artistic education. Mastering the study of academic drawing is an important means of synthesising theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the process of artistic training, contributes to the development of professional artistic culture and the implementation of students’ creative ideas in material form.
