The purpose of the article is to examine certain aspects of the professional activity of Ivan Nebesnyi aimed at the development of Ukrainian musical theatre, particularly in the field of repertoire for children and adolescents. The research methodology is based on general scientific methods, including systemic, art-historical, cultural, and historical analysis. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the fact that, for the first time, the ballets of Ivan Nebesnyi are used as a case study to draw parallels between contemporary Ukrainian musical culture oriented toward the development of innovative artistic tendencies and the established academic models of both world and Ukrainian classical traditions. Conclusions. In the musical works of Ivan Nebesnyi related to ballet theatre, academic stylistics, audio experimentation, and innovation are harmoniously intertwined. The latter is manifested in the combination of acoustic symphonic and electronic instruments, the active use of choral fragments, as well as in new timbral solutions achieved through the introduction of authentic musical instruments, vocal parts of a recitative character, and eccentric sound effects. It is precisely this genre-stylistic synthesis that distinguishes I. Nebesnyi’s creative work in the field of contemporary ballet music and forms a renewed artistic alternative to the academic versions of the ballets by V. Kyreiko (“Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors”) and P. Tchaikovsky (“The Nutcracker”).
