Purpose. This article examines the trends and characteristics in the development of social ballroom dancing in Ukraine from the late 20th to the early 21st century. Research methodology. The study employs the following methods: chronological analysis, to trace the development of social ballroom dancing in contemporary Ukraine; statistical analysis, to examine the activities of historical ballroom dance clubs and the organisation of balls in present-day Ukraine; sociological analysis, to assess the role and function of social ballroom dancing in Ukrainian society; systematisation, to identify connections between the emergence of historical dance club networks and related cultural events; synthesis, to explore the interrelationships between social ballroom dancing, competitive ballroom dance, and other choreographic and artistic forms; and participant observation, to document and analyse selected television programs, balls, and social dance events. Scientific novelty. This study presents the first art-historical analysis of social ballroom dance in contemporary Ukraine, examining the social dimensions of ballroom choreography through the lens of historical dance clubs. Conclusions. To ensure the sustainable development of ballroom choreography in Ukraine, equal support should be directed to all its branches: stage choreography, competitive ballroom dance, and the social dance sector. This includes organising charity, corporate, educational, and historical re-enactment balls, as well as promoting ballroom dance through media platforms. These measures will foster the evolution of both national and international ballroom choreography as an integral component of the cultural ecosystem and a vehicle for holistic personal development.
